Have you heard about N.E.W. LIFE (Nutrition, Exercise, Wellness for LIFE)?   If not, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to this steadily growing nutrition education/behavior modification program which has proven successful and has been available in the Fort Collins/Loveland community since 1990.  Presently there are certified N.E.W. LIFE Dietitians in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Iowa, Ohio, Connecticut and New York.  Interest in the N.E.W. LIFE program has come from dietitians and the public far and wide, including requests for the program in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Connecticut, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, and elsewhere.  Certification to teach the N.E.W. LIFE program is now available to interested R.D.'s.  The N.E.W. LIFE program is serving the dual purpose of:
R.D. Invitation
Assisting a growing number of individuals in achieving optimal health, energy, and
prevention of lifestyle disease, and
Serving as an opportunity for dietitians who desire to share excellent nutrition information and teach an effective community nutrition education/behavior modification program.  N.E.W. LIFE is as much concerned about motivating people to make lifestyle changes as with sharing correct, understandable nutrition information.  Nutrition education topics include breaking the "diet mentality", the Eating Plan and Food Diaries, dietary fats, triglycerides, cholesterol, metabolic syndrome ("Syndrome X"), diabetes, weight-loss/maintenance, relationship  with food issues, eating disorders, motivation based on truth (which lasts!), exercise, labeling and new product information, an optimal diet, the truth about body fat, discernment about nutrition misinformation (i.e., high-protein diets, low-fat misinformation, etc.)
N.E.W. LIFE Dietitians in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Iowa, Ohio, Connecticut and New York
N.E.W. LIFE is growing with N.E.W. LIFE Dietitians in several states including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Iowa, Ohio, Connecticut and New York, and requests from RD's in many more.  Dietitians are certified through attendance at a 10-week N.E.W. LIFE Dietitian Training Forum held in conjunction with the 10-week N.E.W. LIFE program.  A 3-day (20-hour) training has been developed in response to requests for out-of-state training.

Host Sites.  N.E.W. LIFE programs have been held at Lockheed Martin, Hewlett-Packard, HSI/BlueCross BlueShield of Colorado, Poudre Valley Hospital (Fort Collins, CO), Ivinson Memorial Hospital (Laramie, WYO), Littleton Adventist Hospital, Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital (Cherokee, Iowa), City of Fort Collins Human Resources, Fort Collins City Hall, Platte River Power Authroity, Rural Electric Association Building, Fort Collins Women's Clinic, Edora Pool & Ice Center, Chilson Recreation Center, Colorado State University, Univ. of Montana, The Women's Club (Missoula, MT), Paul Stock Aquatic and Recreation Center (Cody, WYO), and numerous churches, health clubs, and doctors' offices.  See Program Schedules for upcoming classes.

The goal in teaching the N.E.W. LIFE program is two-fold:
Additionally, N.E.W. LIFE offers an opportunity for those dietitians who desire to keep "family first" while continuing to serve and grow in their chosen field, and to make an income (as little or as much as they desire to put into it).  There are also dietitians teaching the program who are not raising children and may have more time to commit to their work.  The beauty of the N.E.W. LIFE program is that it is so very flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing goals and lifestyle of the individual teaching dietitians.
Prevention of lifestyle diseases which are robbing Americans of optimal health,                       energy, and wellness, and
To help people overcome barriers to change and restore a healthy relationship with food to an increasing number of people with food and body image obsessions.
Approximately 50% of every class simply do not know what a balanced diet is due to so much misinformation and the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.)!  They usually make the changes easily, and years later are maintaining the lifestyle changes which contribute to better health.  However, the other 50% of every class (and growing) comes with an additional component underlying their food behaviors--a very out-of-balance (or outright addictive) emotional component to eating driven by unresolved emotional pain.  For these people, the most perfect eating plan on earth is not going to help but, in fact, can make them feel worse for having "failed" yet again.  It is important for them to begin to get in touch with their relationship with food, to see if unresolved pain is fueling their behaviors, and to help them base their motivation to change on the solid ground of truth instead of the shifting sand of cultural myths and lies about their worth based on body image.
This is where N.E.W. LIFE differs from traditional
nutrition education programs available to the community.
It is extremely cost-affordable to certify and teach the N.E.W. LIFE program.  The  total cost is $325 which includes:
The Cost
$125 for N.E.W. LIFE Dietitian Training Forum (approved for 21 (Level II) CPE Credits)
$25 for Dietitian Training Forum Manual (10-week "Teaching Points")
$150 for N.E.W. LIFE Program Manual including 180 pages and 80 teaching overheads, video, support, annual updates, and the rights to teach the N.E.W. LIFE program, sharing a culmination of 20 years of experience and program development
$25 annual registration fee "covering" (hardly) the cost of printing and shipping
10-week program materials for as many N.E.W. LIFE programs as you desire to teach/year
RD's, physicians, and program participants have said that N.E.W. LIFE is a "steal".
RD's attend either a 10-week or 3-day N.E.W. LIFE Dietitian Training Forum (DTF).  Dietitians either observe a 10-week N.E.W. LIFE program (1 hour/week) and attend a            DTF hour following each of the 10 sessions or a 3-day training (observing a 10-week N.E.W. LIFE program via video presentations) and participate in a subsequent DTF hour after each video session.  In both DTF formats RD's review the N.E.W. LIFE program philosophy and materials, discuss effective methods of behavior change, review current standards of practice, share successful teaching tools & methods, and have questions  answered.  The                      Dietitian Training Forum Manual includes "Teaching Points" (lesson plans) for each of the 10 sessions.

Dietitian Income.  Reimbursement for each teaching dietitian depends on the number of individuals enrolled in the 10-week program.  This is your business.  Generally, 15-25 people attend each program.  Of course you might decide to teach 2 or 3 classes a week, doubling or tripling that income, or adjust the cost of the program to your area.  Distribution of income is 75% to the teaching dietitian, 25% to the N.E.W. LIFE office.  Please see the box of materials N.E.W. LIFE Dietitians receive for each class they plan (value $150+ copies, $25+ postage + folders, nametags, receipt book).

Won't you consider joining us?  N.E.W. LIFE has continued to grow even though I self-limited the program in keeping my own family priorities straight (3 kids) and could use the help of qualified dietitians!!!  If you have any questions, would like additional information, or think you might be interested in teaching N.E.W. LIFE, please feel free to contact me at newlife@newlifeforhealth.com or call
(631) 704-6977.
Thank you for any consideration you may give the N.E.W. LIFE program.
I look forward to working with more of you!
